Religious and Spiritual Formation The primary role of the Christian community is to challenge the members of the faith community to deepen their vocation which was conferred upon them in Baptism. The “Religious and Spiritual Formation” programs of St. Francis Xavier are designed to nurture the faith of our parish members from preschool through adult. The cornerstone of our ministry involves the young men and women of our parish. Increasingly, we have recognized a need to extend the ministry of Christian Education and Spiritual Formation particularly for the adult members of our Parish Community. Opportunities now exist for our adult members to participate in a variety of educational and spiritual formation programs. These occur mainly through the ongoing program provided to the lectors, Eucharistic ministers and hospitality ministers which are open to all. With the emphasis on the Spiritual Formation of the parish community, in addition to the regularly scheduled celebrations of the Eucharist, we schedule Advent and Lent Sunday Evening prayer, communal anointing services, an annual memorial service for those who have died during the preceding year, and regularly have a parish mission, as well as speakers on various topics of interest that have been requested by parishioners. |
